Beach Haven School Board adopts $1.9 million budget

during the initial hearing a week earlier.
$1,996,746 financial plan. The board had postponed the budget approval the week before, citing the need for more information.
The only amendment from the initial hearing was an inside budget change. The removal of $5,000 from maintenance services was pushed to instructional supplies.
The amount to be raised by taxation is $1,699,717. Overall, the total expenses between last year’s and this year’s proposed budget increased 3.7 percent, or $71,401. However, the tax levy is up only 2 percent, or $33,328, which is right at the mandated cap. School Choice Aid will cover the additional $38,073.
The local tax rate per $100 of assessed property value for the elementary school district is .103 cents. The tax increase for an assessed home value of $700,000 is $14, or $1.17 per month. It is an estimated increase on the tax rate of .002 cents from last year.
The budget for the Southern Regional School District has not yet been announced.
