LBI Foundation takes a turn as matchmaker with ‘Boos, Brews, and Brushes’

The Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences’s popular “Canvas & Cocktails” is taking a turn as matchmaker in a unique fundraising opportunity at daddy O, located at 4401 Long Beach Blvd. in Brant Beach, on Friday, April 10, from 7 to 10 p.m. “Boos, Brews, and Brushes,” a speed dating event, is open to singles between the ages of 28 and 45.
“Let the LBIF be your matchmaker,” a press release states.
Participants will go on up to 20 mini dates with step-by-step art instruction led by Chelsey Odgers.
“Each new step is time to move on to your next boo,” the Foundation stated. “Gal boos will be stationed at a canvas and guy boos will rotate with their canvases onto their next date. If there is a mutual match, hang out at daddy O for cocktails later.”
Happy hour drink and appetizer prices will be available from 7 to 10 p.m.
“I wanted to take advantage of Canvas & Cocktails’ popularity as a fundraising activity for the LBIF,” said Amy Carreño, the Foundation’s director of public programs. “Painting is a great conversation starter; why not make it a first date? ... I decided to delve into matchmaking and raise money for art and culture on LBI.
“The event has been a blast to plan,” she added. “I am grateful for my wonderful friends, Chelsey, for donating her time, and Pete Palladino and Andrew Thulin, for donating the space at daddy O and our first ‘Boos, Brews, and Brushes’ event.”
Tickets cost $40 per person. Proceeds will go toward building classes and programs “to keep art alive on LBI.”
To register, contact Carreño at acarreno@lbifoundation or 609-494-1241, extension 102.
