"I Promise," produced on LBI.
Better That Way Productions, a “creative-minded” film production company on Long Beach Island, will host its first of three fundraisers for its newest feature-length film, “I Promise,” at the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences in Loveladies.

“A Night of Awareness” will be held on Friday, May 3 between 7 and 10 p.m. Tickets cost $20 each and include coffee and desserts. A raffle and silent auction will be available, too.

The event will help raise money for the production of “I Promise,” which focuses on a young college couple that miscarries during pregnancy and continues down a long, rocky road involving cancer and other hardships. Actors Michael Fishman, best known as D.J. from “Roseanne,” and Montana Marks, who performed in “Silver Linings Playbook,” will star in the film. Both actors will be in attendance during film.

“It’s going to be a laid-back night,” said Kevin Corey, owner of BTW Productions. “It’s a great way to mingle and get to know everyone that’s part of the project. They’ve read the script, and they’re committed to the story,” he added.

Montana Marks of "Silver Linings Playbook"
will also star in the film.
The production company is hoping to raise $300,000 by this time next year to foot the production of the movie. All proceeds from the completed film will be donated to various cancer organizations across the country.
“Even if we don’t raise all the money for the film, we’ll donate what we do raise to the cancer organizations, so they benefit no matter what,” said Corey.
