Bellarine Theatre Co. and the Long Beach Island Foundation of the Arts and Sciences are continuing their partnership and commitment to bringing arts and culture to the area with Bellarine’s first-ever “Student Director’s Showcase.” The event, which includes an evening of student-directed scenes, will be held at the Foundation, located at 120 Long Beach Blvd. in Loveladies, on Saturday, April 11, at 8 p.m.

“Bellarine believes in presenting high-quality productions, and we are thrilled to be performing at LBIF again this year,” said Jessica Evans, Bellarine’s founder and artistic director.
Founded in 2011, Bellarine aims to enrich, educate and entertain the community in dramatic arts with emphasis on the art of musical theater production. The theater rehearses and performs in Tuckerton and on LBI.
The showcase’s aspiring directors include Abby Leyh, John Reilly, Gavin Cranmer and Christa Steiner. In preparing for the event, the high school- and college-age students, led by Evans and AJ Mendini, Bellarine’s education coordinator, experienced the challenges of casting, rehearsal and performance. To truly learn what it means to be a successful director, they collaborated and offered each other help from start to finish.
“It’s so important to share our knowledge with the younger generation of up-and-coming artists,” Evans stated. “They are the future of our craft, and it is integral that they are equipped with the proper tools for success.”
Admittance to the showcase is free, but a suggested donation at the door is appreciated. Light refreshments will be provided.
