Summer concert series at Manahawkin Lake Park begins July 7

This year’s summer concert series at the Manahawkin Lake Park, hosted by the Stafford Township Historical Society, will offer something everyone can enjoy. The musical entertainment will be held in front of the pavilion on Manahawkin Lake. All concerts will take place on Mondays in July and August from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. A $5 donation is suggested.

“We enjoy setting up these concerts because it gives us a chance to meet the public and tell them about the local history and perform demonstrations of historical happenings before the concerts start. Also, you are almost always treated to a spectacular sunset over Manahawkin Lake,” said Steven Brescia, chairman of the summer concert committee.
The Brass Tacks, a 17-piece orchestra that plays big swing and dance music, will kick off the concert series on July 7. Country and bluegrass music by Bad Dogz will follow on July 14. Barbershop-harmony music by Boardwalk Chorus, featuring the Baytones and Sound Magic quartets, will take place on July 21. Valerie Vaughn and the Earth Tones will perform folk and country tunes of New Jersey folklore and history on July 28. Gene Galanti and Katie Fallon will sing songs of the Rat Pack-era as well as Broadway tunes on Aug. 4. Talented singer/songwriter Nancy Chamberlain and her family will combine an alternative-pop edge with smooth jazz on Aug. 11. Warm Hearted Country will take the stage on Aug. 18, and Fred Guarino and Friends will provide decades of popular music on Aug. 25.
Concert-goers can bring a lawn chair or blanket to the event. Bleacher seating is also available. Bug spray is recommended.
Parking is available at the park entrance on North Lakeshore Drive, next to the Old Baptist Church.
