Tuckerton Seaport hosts Privateers and Pirates Festival June 7

Would-be pirates of all ages are invited to attend the fourth annual Privateers and Pirates Festival at Tuckerton Seaport, located at 120 West Main St. in Tuckerton, on Saturday, June 7. The Seaport will be taken over by Captain Black and the Crew of the Valhalla, who have been plundering the eastern shore of the American colonies for centuries, a press release stated.
The event is supported in part by a grant from the New Jersey Department of State’s Division of Travel and Tourism.

Festival-goers can create their own pirate memorabilia.
“This year we are so pleased to announce new additions to the Privateers and Pirates Festival: Bloody Historical’s ‘edu-tainment’ programs, a pirate bounce house that’s free with paid admission and a parrot that talks pirate. It is going to be a great time for the whole family,” said Brian Martin, event manager at the Seaport.
The day’s activities will begin at 11 a.m. with a pirate meet-and-greet. Participants may also join in a treasure hunt sponsored by Fantasy Island. Live entertainment by Pirates for Sail will be provided throughout the day.
Festival-goers can also join in a Piratology 101 talk, cannon demonstration, Scurvy Mutineers Sword Fight Show, amputation demonstration, whip show, make-and-take crafts and a Pirate Pistol Duello Show. An American Water Puddles Van with interactive games will teach participants about water conservation, including where the local water comes from and how it is treated.
Participants can also dress up in their best pirate attire and pose for a photo on the plank. The best-dressed winners will be announced at the end of the day on the Tuckerton Seaport Facebook page, and prizes will be awarded.
Admission to the event costs $8 for adults, $6 for seniors and $5 for children. Free admission is available to Seaport members. Admission includes access to the Seaport’s 40 acres of family fun, featuring maritime activities, historic and re-created buildings, live animals, a boardwalk, miniature golf course and exhibits.
